The Lottery is a short story that seems like a rather normal story from the title and it does actually start like a normal story. There are villagers that are getting ready for the lottery. Everybody is happy and excited for the big event. However, when you come near the end things start to get weird. The author Shirley Jackson has used lots of dialogues to improve the effect of the story on the reader and she has succeeded on this. The story is absolutely mind-blowing on how the story’s attitude changes throughout the occurring events.
